The course consists of a number of lectures on the most common topics in epidemiology and clinical problems as encountered in the Department of Medicine. Symposia on HIV, malaria and tuberculosis will be organized by experts in these important diseases. The participants will also join ward rounds and clinics and will have the opportunity to have hands-on experience in the admission wards with the help of a translator and under supervision of the staff. A practical session on diagnosis will be organized and a visit to one of the surrounding district hospitals. On the last day, participants will be shown a wide variety of slides of common and uncommon conditions in Malawi and other African countries to test their knowledge.
