The Catharina Hospital in Eindhoven is specialized in the surgical treatment of patients with colorectal cancer. For the Catharina Hospital quality is a high priority and the hospital is know for it’s complex colorectal surgery. The Catharina hospital performs more then 300 colorectal cases per year. Patients with stage 4 colorectal cancer are referred to the Catharina hospital from all over the Netherlands. The Catharina hospital uses intra operative radio therapy (IORT) to treat these patients. This technique is only done in the Catharina hospital and it leads to better patient outcomes. The aim is to show visitors the organizational aspects of colorectal surgery, the clinical aspects of the IORT procedure and the peri-operative care way. The Catharina hospital is an import customer for Medtronic and doing this course here aligns with the Medtronic strategy.
