On behalf of the EBMT 2020 Organising Committee we look forward to welcoming you to Madrid for the 46th EBMT Annual Meeting, which will include the 36th EBMT Nurses Group Meeting, the 19th Data Management Group Meeting, the 14th Patient, Family and Donor Day, the 12th Quality Management Group Meeting, the 9th Cell Therapy Day, the 9th Paediatrics Day, the 5th Pharmacists Day, the 4th Psychiatry and Psychology Day, the 2nd Transplant Coordinators Day, the 1st Lab Technicians Day and the 1st Edition of the Multi-stakeholder Forum on Innovative Cellular Therapies.

The Scientific Programme of Madrid 2020 will offer a great selection of symposia and educational sessions related to the current challenges of Haematopoietic Stem Cell Transplantation (HSCT) and Cell Therapy. Spain is one of the top countries contributing to the EBMT Registry and activities with over three thousand HSCT performed annually. Madrid has the largest HSCT activity in the country, performing 20% of these transplants.

The congress venue, IFEMA, is the leading venue for hosting international congresses. Madrid remains in a top position among world cities for a large number of international congresses hosted, including those in medical disciplines such as Haematology, Medical Oncology and Solid Organ Transplantation.

Madrid is one of the most important cultural destinations in Europe and worldwide, and combines rich heritage and lively, contemporary culture. Madrid offers visitors six UNESCO World Heritage Sites within an hour from the city, 89 museums, over 100 art galleries, 21 exhibition halls, 66 theatres and over 5,000 restaurants, of which 16 are Michelin Star. Its modern and efficient public transport system connects the international airport to the city centre in 12-15 minutes, and to the meeting venue in only 8 minutes.

This meeting will be a superb platform for a scientific, educational and networking exchange that will exceed everyone’s expectations. We are very much looking forward to welcoming you all to Madrid in 2020!

The EBMT is a collaborative peer network of professionals working, in centres and as individuals, in the field of clinical bone marrow transplantation and cellular therapy. Together, they make up the membership of our organization. Members contribute to and benefit from the collective knowledge that the EBMT has accrued, with the ultimate goal of saving the lives of patients with blood cancers and other life-threatening diseases. 

The EBMT has a governing body, the Board of Association, and two sets of groups that channel the society's research aims and other activities: The Working Parties and the EBMT Committees. We also have a dedicated Nurses Group that has evolved and grown over the years to address issues specifically related to nursing within the field.
