This symposium is dedicated to brain imaging techniques to evaluate perinatal brain development of fetuses at high risk for acquired brain anomalies.

We invited experts from different institutes to highlight various fetal and neonatal serial brain imaging assessments together with neurological outcome parameters. Examinations discussed during this symposium are ultrasound, magnetic resonance imaging, both before and after birth, and neurodevelopmental investigations. This follow-up approach is relevant to facilitate observation of long-term consequences. The day will be of interest for (registrars) obstetricians, neonatologists, child neurologists, radiologists, child physiotherapists and sonographers who perform regular or advanced fetal sonography.
There will be ample time to discuss with the experts about indications and procedure for (serial) advanced brain imaging techniques.

The symposium precedes the PhD ceremony of Bloeme J. van der Knoop.
Her work on fetal brain sonography and MRI and neurological outcome is the result of a longstanding collaboration between the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Neonatology of the Amsterdam University Medical Center location VUmc within the Research Institute Amsterdam Movement Sciences and Neuroscience Campus Amsterdam, the department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Neonatology of University Medical Center Utrecht.
