The ESLSD 2019 will focus on the evolution in the treatment of LSD (lysosomal storage diseases) including the strengths and limitations of established and emerging strategies for the LSD management; approaches for delivering ERT to target tissues and gene replacement therapy. The symposium aims to summarize orally bioavailable molecules and other novel approaches to treatment of storage diseases and to consider adjunctive therapies that can be added to ERT or SRT to address specific pathologies in storage diseases.

As in previous years, the symposium will bring together clinical investigators, scientists and physicians from across Europe and beyond and will offer delegates a sequence of presentations and interactive panel discussions. With a balance between plenary and parallel sessions, including Meet-the-Expert sessions, the 9th ESLSD symposium should provide an excellent forum for professional networking and promote high-level discussions as well as a pleasant educational experience for everyone taking part.

The 2019 ESLSD theme is “A Decade of Innovation in the LSD Care: Where we are Today and What is Awaiting us Tomorrow?” and this educational symposium aims to:

•    Describe the strengths and limitations of established and emerging strategies for the LSD management, including enzyme replacement therapy (ERT)
•    Critically review approaches for delivering ERT to target tissues, including gene replacement therapy
•    Summarize orally bioavailable molecules and other novel approaches to treatment of storage diseases  
•    Consider adjunctive therapies that can be added to ERT or SRT to address specific pathologies in storage diseases
