Globale inhoud:This unique dissection course for the head and upper neck region will involve the use of formalin fixed cadavers, provided by the department of anatomy of the University of Amsterdam. Each day is divided into blocks that consist of a short presentation about the anatomy of the region, followed by dissection.
Each participant will work on formalin fixed human cadaveric head, cut in the midline (known as a sagittal section). This way you can go at your own pace, we will be encouraging you to look at your fellow participant’s dissection, this enhances your learning opportunities. At each step an anatomist will be guiding you and highlighting important learning points, related to the subject that is being covered.
During the day participants are asked to show their dissection to the other participants, this creates a peer teaching opportunity where everyone can learn from each other. Ample time will be provided for questions and discussion. This is a once in a lifetime opportunity to explore human anatomy in a truly immersive way; we will do all we can to support you and make this an unforgettable and unique educational experience.
Your course instructors are Karl Jacobs, Shazan Chughtai and Hedwig van der Meer. Karl Jacobs and Shazan Chughtai are both anatomists and will teach you about the anatomy and guide you through the dissections. Hedwig van der Meer is an orofacial therapist and a PhD-student on Headaches and Temporomandibular disorders. She will bring you up-to-date on the most recent scientific findings regarding the most common complaints and disorders of the head and neck region.
In summary, this course will allow you to:
