Dear Colleagues,We are pleased to invite you to the ‘Innovations in Colorectal Surgery’ congress. On March 29th 2019, the Department of Surgery of Amsterdam UMC will host this international symposium in the Amsterdam Skills Centre, one of the new top European surgical skill centers.Innovations aim to improve quality of surgery and patient outcomes. On this day we will collect and share the latest innovations that could change future surgery. Implementation of these surgical novelties in imaging, tissue handling and perioperative care require demonstration and education. State of the art lectures and video’s in different areas of colorectal surgery will demonstrate the clinical value of innovations. A variety of trending topics in colorectal surgery such as novel developments in NOTES, intraoperative advanced imaging (antibody-coupled ICG), the newest robotic platforms, augmented reality in surgery, social media and surgery, organ preservation, TaTME and D3 colonic and rectal cancer resection will be addressed.Live surgery cases will accompany the lectures to further increase the didactic merit of the day. The live moderation and ability of direct communication between the venue and operating theatre promises interesting discussions and deliberations of treatment strategies among the audience and faculty. We look forward to welcoming you in Amsterdam in March 2019.On behalf of organizing committee,Committee:Jurriaan Tuynman, congress directorColin SietsesStefan van Oostendorp and Nina Sluiter, coordinators
