IMTA  Level 1 (Bron: IMTA Postgraduate Education Programme – Curriculum V_2013)

This module introduces the Maitland® Concept of manipulative Physiotherapy and its application in the management of patients with neuromusculoskeletal movement disorders. It will enable the development of clinical skills to a level adequate for safe and effective patient centred management. It develops existing knowledge and promotes understanding of relevant concepts, theory and mechanisms based on the current evidence. It enables the direct application in clinical practice immediately after each module week.

By the end of this module the learner will be able to:

Describe and discuss the contribution and role of the Maitland® Concept of manipulative physiotherapy.

Undertake, discuss and document the assessment and treatment of NMS dysfunction.

Apply and evaluate effective communication strategies within a patient centred approach.

Describe and discuss hypothesis generation in relation to clinical reasoning models.

Apply and evaluate relevant treatment techniques (grade I–IV) safely and accurately.

Kritische reflectie en analyse van:

Doelen van wetenschappelijk onderzoek

Theorieontwikkeling

Vormen van wetenschappelijk onderzoek gebaseerd op diverse filosofische achtergronden (kwalitatieve en kwantitatieve onderzoeksprocessen)

Evidence based practice en de evidentieniveaus van Sackett et al in vergelijking tot klinische evidentie

Meetinstrumenten, klinimetrie, integratie in klinisch onderzoek en herbeoordelingsprocessen

Validiteit en betrouwbaarheid van meetinstrumenten

Vaardigheidstraining

Deze contactdag dient als voorbereiding op de vaardighedentoets.

Tijdens de periode MCP I pas je de tijdens het eerste studiejaar verworven vaardigheden toe in reële praktijksituaties, onder begeleiding van een door de IMTA-Teaching Faculty NL aangewezen klinische mentor.
