This workshop is to introduce the participant to the connective tissue and fascial systems and its role in normal function. A further aim is sharing how dysfunction and pathology may develop by interference within this system – particularly after surgery, radiotherapy and/or reconstructive surgery. By understanding how various systems interlink to determine function, integrated treatment strategies are introduced to participants both on a theoretical level, as well as practical evaluation and treatment strategies. Participants will develop manual and massage skills for evaluating and treating of individual patients using an integrated approach dominated by fascial understanding. As oedematherapist we need to know all anatomic structures which can cause dysfunction; fascia is one of the anatomical structures and can well be treated by a oedematherapist. In this course we focus on the treatment of the fascia in relationship to breast cancer and specifically in relationship with lymphoedema
