Laparoscopic pancreatic surgery offers a substantial benefit to patients when compared to open surgery, as a result of the less invasive nature of the approach. However, both laparoscopic pancreatoduodenectomy (LPD) and laparoscopic distal pancreatectomy (LDP) have been associated with learning curves ranging from 20 to 80 cases until full proficiency. The workshop comprises 1.5 days of interactive evidence review, insights in the crucial steps of both LPD and LDP, intraoperative complication management, tips & tricks by experts, and hands-on practice on cadavers and simulators. After an initial test edition in 2017, the workshop may be opened to international members of the EAES in 2018.
