This course aims at physicists who have attended the basic course or have some understanding of MRI and require more practical knowledge to implement or conduct the introduction of MRI for radiotherapy. The program includes a more theoretical and a more practical part. We will go in detail into advanced acquisition methods such as TSE, SSFP, EPI and SPGR and contrast mechanism such as T1, T2 and diffusion. Sequence optimization for contrast, resolution, geometric accuracy, SNR will be touched on theoretically and in practice. Also QA for image quality, geometric fidelity of the scanner, patient specific QA, and phantoms will be discussed and demonstrated. The practical part of the course on the scanner will be conducted on a Philips scanner. We have access to a 3T and two 1.5T Philips Ingenia scanners.
