goede cursus, had persoonlijk iets meer verwacht ivm DD bij laterale elleboogpijn. De uiteindelijke echt praktische uiteenzetting (hoeveel herhaling, hoe opbouwen en progressie) werd te snel doorlopen.

Heel veel gepraat over de studies die hij had gedaan en de resultaten hiervan, maar mij interesseert eerder de praktijk. Ik had er meer van verwacht. Waarom worden de technieken bijvoorbeeld niet getoond met een echte patiënt? Dit maakt het allemaal toch wat interessanter.

Lateral epicondylalgia: A pragmatic evidence informed approach.

Inhoud :
This clinical workshop will address key issues confronting the clinician in dealing with chronic recalcitrant Lateral Epicondylalgia (LE). This workshop will provide tuition in manual therapy and therapeutic exercise techniques for the upper kinetic chain as well as the current best practice evidence for its aetiology and treatment. The workshop presenter has extensive clinical and research experience of the physical treatment of lateral epicondylalgia. Prof Vicenzino leads a dynamic team of researchers at the University of Queensland who have recently published their results on physical therapy on this condition in prestigious medical journals such as JAMA, BMJ, and Lancet, as well as in discipline specific journals such as BJSM & Manual Therapy.
Leerdoelen :
After the course, participants will be able to:
1. Explain current evidence underpinning the aetiology of chronic lateral epicondylalgia (as well as other chronic tendinopathies) and how this relates to the pragmatic physical treatment approach presented in the course.
2. Select and perform effective manual therapy treatments for chronic lateral epicondylalgia, including the instruction of home programs and application of taping techniques.
3. Use the current level of evidence in the literature for physical treatment of lateral epicondylalgia.
4. Put together and implement a pragmatic treatment program plan for lateral epicondylalgia based on latest evidence for manual therapy, exercise and taping.

Bill Vicenzino is a Professor in Sports Physiotherapy and coordinator of the Master of Physiotherapy (Sports Phty) at the University of Queensland and leads a team that has evaluated musculoskeletal conditions such as tennis elbow, plantar heel pain and patellofemoral pain and their treatment. He has conducted a number of randomized clinical trials attracting NHMRC (Project, Program and Centre of Clinical Research Excellence) and industry funding, and published in high ranking medical journals (JAMA, BMJ, Lancet, BJSM). This research has questioned the common use of steroid injections for tendinopathy and showed how some simple physical treatments provide effective early resolution. His seminal trial on steroid injections versus mobilisation with movement plus exercise for tennis elbow has been judged in the top 15 of 28,000 trials registered in PEDro. Paralleling this clinical trial research has been a stream of laboratory-based experiments that seek to better understand the underlying mechanisms of the pain and disability reported by patients with these conditions. Bill has communicated his findings from his research in over 150 peer reviewed journal publications, a book and 26 book chapters and over 300 invited workshops, seminars and conference presentations.
